Building regulations drawings were prepared for this ultra contemporary horse shoe shaped, semi subterranean house, and taking the opportunity at looking to enhance the original floor layouts.
The challenges involved detailing the underground retaining walls to ensure they remained water tight whilst providing good levels of thermal insulation.
Setting out of walls was a challenge, given the curved nature of the house, probably more of a challenge for the guys on site!
The roof is a living green roof, whilst the overhangs are finished in zinc. The walls are not only curved but also battered at an angle in render.
The rear of the property is more or less formed of continuous floor to ceiling windows/sliding doors to maximise light and views across the adjacent fields.
